Where most of the tourists go to the right when they past Valence entering the Ardèche, it became a good time for us to turn left into the Drôme. The Drôme area is located on the east side of the Rhône and starts at Valence and continues until Nyon. The east side is bounded by the passes of the Vercors. Centrally located in the area are the towns Crest and Die. From here all kinds of trips are possible. Since the area is significantly quieter than the Ardèche, the range of campsites is also less. But it is precisely that peace that makes the area particularly beautiful. Bathing by the river, a market here or there or just relaxing in the mountains. The picturesque also Mirmande is well worth a visit.
As far as the climate is concerned, you are in the Drôme south enough to be assured of steady weather (exceptions are always there). Because of the type of underground, the area is greener than the rocky Ardèche.
